Cesenatico
enchanting seaside village
Cesenatico, in the heart of Romagna
Cesenatico is one of the most famous locations in the Riviera Romagnola. A town of many colours, lively during the summer, fascinating during the winter season and with a history that goes back a long way.
In summer Cesenatico becomes home to many tourists and its beating heart is the waterfrontwith its many shops, restaurants, playgrounds and hotels ready to welcome the millions of people who flock to its streets every year.
During the summer, Cesenatico's seafront is alive, full of people; in the evening, it is closed to traffic to be fully experienced by tourists, who move around on foot, by bicycle, by a nice little train or by carriage.
But Cesenatico is beautiful all year round: even in autumn and spring, when you can take advantage of the mild climate to take a nice walk on the beach, enjoy the sea air, and perhaps participate in one of the festivals or tastings of blue fish, or in winter, when it is dressed in lights for the Christmas festivities.

The historical centre of Cesenatico
In winter and the milder seasons, the marine centre gives way to the beauty and charm of the historic centrewhere the canal port designed by Leonardo da Vinci. And it is here that the spectacle of the historic boats moored in the canal comes to life, which every day fascinates young and old alike, thanks also to the colourful sails swaying in the wind.
The old town is an explosion of joy and hosts many important festivals and celebrations, such as Blue as a fish held in spring, the festival The Fish Party of November, the Christmas markets starting from Immaculate Conception and the famous floating nativity scene. It is the latter that is the real protagonist of Cesenatico in winter, with the artist statues placed on the boats that adorn the picturesque canal port full of a thousand lights.
Also in the centre, next to the piazzetta delle Conserve, is the home of poet Marino Moretti and in front of the Church of St James. Tourists eager to get to know other cultures and traditions cannot miss the Maritime Museumthe only one in Italy to have a land and a floating section and to be the guardian of the ancient fishing tradition belonging to the people of Cesenatico. In fact, Cesenatico was originally an ancient port, designed by Leonardo da Vinci, and has now become, together with Cervia and Milano Marittima, the holiday capital of Italians. Cesenatico has succeeded over the years in combining fishing and tourism, two vocations and traditions that make it a unique resort on the entire Romagna Riviera.
